After eight years of serving people in the entrepreneurship space, I've found a few common struggles that hold people back from reaching their full Kingdom potential. And, I am convinced that one of the greatest barriers people face is the need for certainty.

Think about the assignment God has given you. Or the new one he has been speaking to you about lately. Are you taking consistent action to move things forward with it? Or is there something holding you back? Fear, confusion, uncertainty?

If we're being honest, a lot of us get stuck here, because new assignments almost always come with mystery.

Most people would say, "Yeah Pedro, I know I am supposed to be okay with mystery...but if I am being honest, what I really want is certainty. I want to know for sure that this is going to have a good outcome."

I get it. But, the truth is...

The greater your need for certainty, the more difficult it will be to lay hold of your Kingdom potential.

That need creates unnecessary mental warfare, struggle, and suffering. You will be a lot slower to say "yes" and delay obedience for what God is inviting you into.

I've seen how this mindset can cause people to be more prone to making bad decisions out of fear…and how it keeps them stuck in an endless cycle of waiting, seeking clarity, and being confused. When really they just need to get out of their own way.

So how do you do that? How do you get out of your own way so you can step fully into your Kingdom assignment? It starts by doing some inner game work and renewing your mind to a few basic Kingdom concepts.

#1. Embrace Mystery As An Adventure

Kingdom people embrace mystery and see it as an adventure. Being able to do this really comes down to one thing...how much do you actually trust God?

If we trust God and believe Him to be a good Father, then we'll trust His plans, His ways, and His methods. Even when we don't understand them. Even when we don't like them.

Trust allows you to know that no matter how things end up, it's going to work out for your good because God wastes nothing and he always "828's" everything. (Romans 8:28) All things work for the good…

Can you see how this kind of Kingdom thinking makes it so much easier to step out and take action, even in the face of uncertainty?

#2. Accept That You Might Not Have A Map

Sometimes God invites you into something so unique that no one has ever done it before. There's no blueprint or map to follow. You may not know where to start or how to do it. You may not feel connected to the right people. You'll have moments where it feels like you're out there alone, walking on water.

That's not a very comfortable place to be, but learn to be okay with it, because… Your biggest advantage in the Kingdom is knowing how to get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Big assignments often require being uncertain, uncomfortable and charting the way inside of new territory. So, the longer you can withstand mystery and sit in that in-between space, the more God can trust you with bigger assignments.

#3. Be Willing To Take The Next Best Step

Once you've said "yes" to the assignment, you have to do something to activate it and create momentum behind it. It's hard to steer a parked car…but once you start moving and the wheels are in motion, steering becomes a lot easier.

That's how it is with our assignments — God can steer you in the right direction a lot easier if you are already moving.

The objection I hear most from people not yet in momentum is that they don't always know what to do first or where to start. Let me help you make this easier. Most of the time there is at least one obvious next step to take. That's your step.

Buy the domain. Make the phone call. Outline the book. Make the social media post. Whatever the first and most obvious, simple next step is for you…do it today.

You don't have to wait for more certainty, more clarity, more confirmation… You don't always need a full blueprint or a full strategy. Start where you are with what you do know. Take care of the low hanging fruit first. Trust that as you move forward, more clarity and more certainty will come.

In the Kingdom, clarity doesn't come before movement. It comes when you move...as you move.

Here's how you lock this in. Ask yourself, honestly…

  • Where in my life right now is God inviting me into an assignment I don't yet fully understand or have the full blueprint for?
  • What would I say "yes" to right now if I truly believed Romans 8:28 applied to this assignment?
  • What is the most obvious next step that I've been putting off? And when will I do it?
